Riley Green certainly knows how to get to “where the corn don’t grow” as his image hovers over the streets of Nashville on a billboard focusing on his cover of the famous song by Waylon Jennings.
Green posted a photo of the billboard which is specifically focused on “Where Corn Don’t Grow,” displaying the fact the cover is available on Amazon Music. He captioned the Instagram photo:
“I released my own version of Where Corn Don’t Grow originally recorded by Waylon Jennings and covered by @realtravistritt…y’all can check it out now on @amazonmusic.”
Riley Green Covers a Country Classic
Country musician Riley Green recently covered the song, which was written by Mark Alan Springer and recorded by Waylon Jennings in 1990.
Six years after Jennings released “Where Corn Don’t Grow,” Travis Tritt turned the country song into a Top 10 Country hit.
The Story of “Where Corn Don’t Grow”
The song hits home for those believing happiness lies somewhere else, just to discover all of life’s problems will follow you wherever you go. A lesson of how happiness is not in a certain location, but inside of you. A display of poignant storytelling explains how there is never a “perfect place.” Everywhere has its own problems.
As a young, headstrong man, he ventures into the city away from the country fields he was raised in. He, in fact, learns his daddy was right. No matter where you go “the weeds are high where corn don’t grow.”
A mistaken viewpoint of the “grass is always greener on the other side.”
Check Out Green’s Version on Amazon Music
Although, Green has provided a new take on the famous song, don’t expect to find it on other music streaming sites to hear his version. However, the song is available to stream and purchase on Amazon Music.
“I picked Travis Tritt’s ‘Where Corn Don’t Grow’ as my Amazon Original because it was one of my favorite songs growing up and I love the message of a father’s tradition of how you grew up and not wanting to stray too far from that,” says Green.
