Shania Twain Looks Back at ‘Man! I Feel Like a Woman!’ with Heartfelt Message to Fans

Shania Twain made her mark in country music after lots of struggle and heartache. She also added a powerful phrase to American lingo.

When Twain says “Let’s Go Girls!” at the beginning of “Man! I Feel Like a Woman,” it’s become something akin to a call-to-action for her female fans.

She looks back on the phrase and adds some thoughts of her own in an Instagram post.

In the post, Shania Twain also asks her fans and followers to tell her who are the woman that have inspired them this year.

If you’ve forgotten what the song sounds like, here’s Twain performing it in this video. It has more than 231 million views since being posted on YouTube in 2009.

Kelsea Ballerini Loved Teaming Up With Shania Twain

Twain’s influence on female country singers is not forgotten, especially for Kelsea Ballerini.

She had the opportunity of a lifetime, albeit in a virtual concert format, to sing with Twain in the VerizonUp concert series earlier in December.

Ballerini was most excited about her collaboration with Twain.

“Then recently, I got to collaborate with Shania Twain, who I grew up on, and then she added her superpowers to my song [“Hole in the Bottle” remix],” she says. “It’s so much stronger and powerful when two females work together and respect each other and lift each other up and do it through music.

“I was doing a virtual meet-and-greet yesterday, and someone asked me, ‘Who is your dream collaboration that you’re looking forward to one day?’ And I was like, ‘This is not a cop-out, but it’s Shania,’” says Kelsea. “I can’t do better than that. That is the peak for me, just to have someone that genuinely blazed trails that have allowed me to do what I do as a female in country music.”

Ballerini has talked of her relationship with Shania Twain in past interviews.

Back in 2018, in an interview with SiriusXM, she talked of how Twain came to one of her shows.

“But Shania, she invited me to come sing with her at Stagecoach last year. And she came out to a show. She Ubered over,” she said. “I swear, Shania Twain Ubered over from Toronto, Canada. She sat in the sound booth. No ball cap, completely normal. Didn’t care that people were taking pictures of her. Came on my bus and took a pre-show shot with me. She’s the coolest.”

Ballerini performed her song “Hole In The Bottle” at this year’s County Music Association Awards. Her performance had a little Twain influence.

During the performance, Ballerini shared several nods to Twain. She could be seen sporting outfits similar to the icon’s signature style on Instagram. Ballerini even wore a top hat like in Twain’s famous hit, “Man, I Feel Like a Woman.”

She also shouted “Let’s go girls!” at the end of her performance. That’s perhaps one of Twain’s most famous phrases.
