Today, Thomas Rhett released a music video for his new single, “What’s Your Country Song.” The new single came out on Wednesday after Rhett posted a sneak peek earlier in the week. He wrote the song with his father, Rhett Akins, and Parker Welling last year. Watch the music video below.
He changed the chorus slightly since posting the sound bite, but the melody remains roughly the same. The song as a whole addresses everyone’s country song and how each individual has a song they associate with experiences. In the verses, Rhett gives shoutouts to many of the great country songs that fans love. Some of these include George Strait’s “All My Exes Live in Texas” and Hank Williams’ “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry.”
The music video is essentially a collage of all of the quintessential country vibes. From bonfires to Friday night lights, the video features anything and everything that makes country life what it is. These are juxtaposed with Rhett singing and playing guitar along with folks singing along to his song “on a two-lane highway when you turn your radio up.”
Thomas Rhett and His Wife to Co-Host CMA Christmas Special
Thomas Rhett and his wife, Lauren Akins, announced that they will host the annual CMA Christmas Special. The special is scheduled to air on Monday, November 30, at 9/8 central on ABC. Last year, the event was hosted by Trisha Yearwood, although many fans wanted Reba McEntire to host.
The couple, who married 8 years ago in October, claim to be huge Christmas fans. They hosted several ugly sweater parties and hosted several caroling events around Nashville. Rhett has also released a couple of country Christmas songs in his career, including “Christmas in the Country” and “The Christmas Song.” Both Rhett and Akins expressed their excitement to host the annual event.
