Tim McGraw Left Stunned by Unreal ‘Don’t Take the Girl’ Cover on TikTok: VIDEO

When it comes to the world of country music, superstar singer and songwriter Tim McGraw has been there and heard that.

One of the best-selling music artists of all time, Tim McGraw knows what good music sounds like. So when Tik Tok star Alexandra Kay performed one of his hit songs while brewing coffee, McGraw loved what he was hearing. Kay, whose claim to fame is covering famous songs while serving up a hot cup of joe, chose a Tim McGraw tune recently. “Don’t Take the Girl” is one of the country icon’s signature and most recognizable songs.

Released in 1994, “Don’t Take the Girl” is credited as the hit single that boosted Tim McGraw up the country music ladder. More than 25 years later, it is still a favorite of McGraw fans. Kay, who has a beautiful voice, did a rendition of the song that caught McGraw’s attention. He liked it so much that he invited the young singer to perform with him.

“Somebody needs to sign this girl to a record deal,” McGraw says upon hearing Kay sing his hit song.

It is clear from the duet video that Tim McGraw is blown away by Kay’s incredible vocal talent. Playing along with the singer’s hook, McGraw whips up a coffee brew as Kay continues the song.

“See if my coffee turns out as good as this girl sings,” he says midway through the video.

While we don’t get to see how the coffee turns out, country music fans get a real treat out of Kay’s performance. If you are impressing Tim McGraw with your vocals — you are probably doing something right.

Tim McGraw, Other Country Stars Impressed with Tik Toker

Tim McGraw’s “Don’t Take the Girl” is far from the only song that Alexandra Kay has covered while making coffee. It was her cover of Dolly Parton’s “Jolene” that first went viral. She also mixes in classic hits and contemporary songs into her “Coffee Covers,” as she likes to call it. She was able to connect with country music legend Randy Travis after performing his hit song “Deeper than the Holler” earlier this year.

A TikTok “duet” is when one person watches or interacts with another person’s video, usually with a split-screen. So while Tim McGraw appears on the video, he doesn’t actually jump in with vocals. Instead, he quietly sits and listens to Kay sing his song.

You might notice in the video that Tim McGraw is sporting a thick mustache and scruffy beard these days. He recently revealed the facial hair is part of his “1883” character’s looks. McGraw and his wife, fellow country music star Faith Hill, will be playing the lead characters in the upcoming “Yellowstone” prequel.
