‘Talking to the Sky’ by Aimee Mayo

So, what is the book Tim McGraw is giving high praises on social media about?

On her site, Mayo describes the book as, “A memoir about living your best life in a shit-show. Ultimately a story of faith over fear and survival of a dream.”

Mayo has been working on her memoir for a very long time. She said that she stressed about the cover of the book for over a decade. She reached out to famous cover designer Rodrigo Corral who ended up creating the cover. He is the artist behind covers on books like “A Million Little Pieces,” “The Fault in Our Stars,” and “The Glass Castle.”

The book is 13 years in the making. It can be purchased here on Amazon. She strived to make the book perfect for years, but eventually, she decided that even flaws can make something more real.

“Trying to aim for perfection just paralyzes me. Fear is so intertwined, nothing is ever perfect …” Mayo said on “Coffee, Cody and Country 650 WSM.”

Behind Her Success

The memoir tells the story of what it was like to grow up in chaos. She also talks about her success in the music industry. She is one of the few females that has won BMI’s Country Song of the Year and Songwriter of the Year awards, alongside Dolly Parton and Taylor Swift.

Her story goes from a difficult childhood with a father who ended up dying homeless and a mother who was addicted to pain pills. She went through a series of hardships in her younger years. When she was 20 she tried to kill herself. However, she persevered and ended up in Nashville where she would begin her career as a songwriter. She used to write in diaries and dream of the day she would become a songwriter.

In Nashville, she also faced major issues. One was that she married a wife-beating country artist. However, now she has truly made it to her dream of songwriting for some of the best artists like Tim McGraw.

Award-winning author of the book “The Glass Castle,” Jeannette Walls, said, “Talking to the Sky is a howl-at-the-moon good memoir. Aimee Mayo’s story will knock you off your feet, pick you back up, and take you soaring.”
