Tim McGraw Reveals He and Garth Brooks Were Once ‘Bridesmaids’ In the Same Wedding

Who knew two country music superstars, Tim McGraw and Garth Brooks, would be “bridesmaids” in one wedding…at the same time.

Well, music fans, this dynamic duo-type of connection took place in the late 1980s in Nashville. Now, this happened before McGraw and Brooks climbed up the ladder of superstardom, according to an article in Pop Culture.

Tammy Rose was a person who, reportedly, helped out new artists who had just moved to Nashville. Garth Brooks happened to be a friend of Rose, as was McGraw and fellow country artist Tracy Lawrence.

McGraw said “when she got married, she asked Garth, me, and Tracy Lawrence to be her bridesmaids” during an interview with Keith Urban on “Beyond The Influence Radio.”

Tim McGraw Admits He Was In Awe Of Brooks

“I had just gotten a record deal and hadn’t had a hit,” McGraw said. “So we’re all bridesmaids at this wedding for Tammy and I’m standing there. I’m sort of in awe.”

Actually, McGraw said he was really in awe of Brooks. So much so that at one point during the wedding, McGraw said he went over to Brooks and said, “You know, I just want to thank you, Garth, because you knocked the door down for all the things that I wanted to do as a country singer.”

Brooks heard McGraw’s comments and said, according to McGraw, “‘Look, we all moved to town for that reason. I just got here first.’”

During a tour stop in Tulsa, Okla., a few years ago, McGraw sang a medley of Brooks’ songs. What a sign of ultimate respect from one country music star to another one. Their songs have been so important to their fans’ lives.

McGraw, Garth Brooks Begin Ascension Of Careers

They were just getting started on their careers. Brooks released his debut album in 1989; McGraw released his own debut LP in 1993.

From that point on, millions of country music fans all over the world have heard Tim McGraw and Garth Brooks sing their hearts out.

But McGraw and Brooks crossed paths at Rose’s wedding. That was their first meeting and it certainly was not the last.

They want to get back out on the touring buses ASAP, like many other recording artists.

It has been challenging for everyone due to the pandemic.

Brooks had planned to start his stadium tour show in Charlotte, N.C. But, on March 2, he delayed it until Sept. 25. That news comes off Brooks’ official website. Brooks publicly announced that his wife, country music singer-songwriter Trish Yearwood, had tested positive for COVID-19.
