Country star Tim McGraw is enjoying reminiscing about choosing the song “Meanwhile Back at Mama’s.”

Tim McGraw Looks Back

“When this song came in, it just felt right,” McGraw tweeted Thursday. “And so did this video. Love taking a look back.”

“Meanwhile Back at Mama’s” was the second single from McGraw’s second album for Big Machine Records, 2014’s Sundown Heaven Town. Jeffrey Steele, Jaren Johnston and Tom Douglas wrote the song.

“When ‘Meanwhile Back at Mama’s’ came in, it just felt like the right song for Faith and I to sing together,” McGraw said. “It had the sentiment that we love. And it had something that felt comfortable to us – something that felt comfortable as us together. Something that we could really put ourselves in the scene, I guess, is the best way to say it. And to see us appearing in the scene.”

“It’s not like some sort of forced way to have to look at both of us,” he added. “And our careers, and who we are as people, and where we come from, and all those sorts of things. Which, a lot of that has to go into it when you’re singing together with somebody. And especially when it’s your wife, those things have to all make sense.”

A Chart-Topping Hit

They shot the music video at McGraw and Hill’s farm in Nashville. It came out in June of 2014.

The song hit No. 2 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart. It reached No. 1 on Canada’s Country chart.

McGraw is having a merry holiday season so far this year. He decorated the family’s enormous Christmas tree. He also gathered chopped firewood. Moreover, he strung lights around the trees in his home’s front yard. And he sent out a Christmas message to all his followers on Twitter.

Now all that remains is to create some new memories he’ll enjoy reminiscing about in the future.
