During a recent interview with his record label, country superstar Tim McGraw opened up about his relationship with his three daughters. On Tuesday, Big Machine Records shared the exclusive interview where he touched on life now that his girls are all out on their own.

McGraw and his equally famous wife Faith Hill share three children together: Gracie (24), Maggie (22), and Audrey (19). It has to be strange to have two of the most famous country musicians in the world as your parents. However, McGraw and Hill did their best to give their three girls as normal of an upbringing as possible.

McGraw admits that when Aubrey left home for college last fall, he and Hill were emotional about it. But the tight-knit family still stays close by contacting each other often.

“We talk to our girls quite a bit. We’re a pretty close five-some, me and my four girls,” Tim McGraw shared in the interview. “They’ve grown up on a bus with us and all kinds of things. So we stay pretty close and we talk quite often, for sure. And I wouldn’t change that for anything.”

Believe It or Not, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill Even Attended PTA Meetings

A few months ago, Tim McGraw also spoke about fatherhood in a February interview with Leo Edit. He joined his Friday Night Lights co-star Garrett Hedlund for a discussion about parenting. The singer said his three daughters have “a different kind of life, but we also gave them the best of both worlds in a sense.”

“We tried our best to never be away from them,” he said, according to the Leo Edit article. “They were on the road with us, they flew with us. If we had to go to Europe, they went to Europe with us. Whenever we were working, they were with us most of the time.”

The country music power couple were very hands-on when raising their children. Regardless of their careers or touring, McGraw and Hill always made sure to focus on their family. The famous couple even attended mundane events like PTA meetings and were always very involved in their kids’ lives.

“When they started school and when we were home, we didn’t talk about business,” Tim McGraw said. “Their friends called us Mr. and Mrs. McGraw. They all knew us as Gracie’s dad, or Audrey’s dad, or Maggie’s dad. They sort of all grew up in the same community with the same friends. All their parents knew us. We were at PTA meetings, we were at football games, we were at basketball games. I coached softball. I coached basketball. We were part of their life, their community growing up. We made a real effort for them to not just to be part of our lives, but for us to be part of their lives.”

It might be hard to imagine Time McGraw and Faith Hill at grade school games and meetings. But the couple made things work for their family, and it sounds like the country stars and their daughters’ relationship is better off because of it.
