Tim McGraw and Faith Hill’s daughter, Gracie McGraw, posted on her Instagram live about body positivity and a recent post from popular actor Will Smith.

Will Smith recently posted a photo that shows off his weight gain over the last year due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

He wrote, “This is the body that carried me through an entire pandemic and countless days grazing thru the pantry. I love this body, but I wanna FEEL better. No more midnight muffins…this is it! Imma get in the BEST SHAPE OF MY LIFE!!!!! Teaming up with @YouTube to get my health & wellness back on track.”

People flooded the comments with positive reinforcement for the actor. One user wrote, “Serving realness from your head to your toes.” The original photo has gone viral, with more than just Gracie McGraw flooding to his page.

Since then, fans have been sending in their insane workouts to Will Smith. He shared some of these in another post saying, “Y’all tryna kill me with these workouts in my DMs!!” Since then, Will Smith has continued to post other people and their different body types. He has been open in saying, “I’m gonna be real wit yall — I’m in the worst shape of my life.”

People have been saying anything from “This is the most amazing post in the history of social media” to “You’re Will Smith!! You can be in whatever shape you want.”

Gracie McGraw saw the Instagram posts and wanted to point something out to her fans on social media.

“So, Will Smith is doing this whole thing where he’s like body positive, I gained weight during quarantine…I was reading the comments…it was so many people being happy for him being like chubby. Anytime a woman posts body positivity things, it’s always about how fat they are and I feel like there’s still this double standard about men’s bodies and how ‘dad bods’ are hot and ‘mom bods’ or depression eating bods or eating disorder bodies are not. I think that it’s really unfair and really not cool because we have women who are struggling, I struggle with it,” Gracie McGraw said in her Instagram story.

Gracie McGraw on Body Positivity

McGraw has long used her platform to open up about struggling with body image issues. She said that after a rough period in her life, she started to lose weight. Despite being unhealthy mentally, she noticed more people telling her how good she looked physically. Then when her mental health started to improve and she happened to gain more weight, people had taken the opposite direction.

“Every single person in the world is going through something right now. For a man to be celebrated for gaining quarantine weight…while so many women can barely even walk outside without being ridiculed about something,” Gracie McGraw said.

Like many celebrities, Will Smith has had extreme pressure to keep up a perfect physique over the years. He has played ripped superheroes and even boxing icon Muhammad Ali. He, like many Hollywood figures, is often keeping up with very difficult body standards. Gracie McGraw is talking more about the double standard present in body image, rather than disagreeing with what Will Smith is sharing with fans.

“Maybe it was because I was upset with myself about the weight I’ve gained the last few weeks or maybe it was the stressful day but, speaking out loud on how something made me feel…helped me remember that I was being too hard on myself and that I am very happy and healthy. This is why communication is so important, not just with others but with yourself,” she wrote at the end of the Instagram story.
