With a social media post on Wednesday, Sept. 15, Toby Keith reminded his fans of the release of one of his most popular songs. That track is the 2001 hit, “I’m Just Talkin’ About Tonight.”

According to his Instagram post on Wednesday, Keith is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the release of this No. 1 song. Also, part of his celebration included sharing an old-school cool cowboy photo of himself. A much younger Toby Keith is sitting on a bench and looking very laid back and cool in a black cowboy hat and a leather jacket.

Along with the photo, he also added the caption: “20 years ago today, “I’m Just Talkin’ About Tonight” hit #1 on the @Billboard country chart!” You can check out the photo below.

Toby Keith Wrote ‘I’m Just Talkin’ About Tonight’ With Scotty Emerick

According to Song Facts, “I’m Just Talkin’ About Tonight” was a collaboration between Toby Keith and Scotty Emerick. The two had met in 1997. Also, this 2001 song was one of the first they created together.

The song is a perfect track to play in a bar where so many people are looking for the brief company of others. Keith has said that he found inspiration for the song during his many years playing in bars. This allowed him to witness men doing what they can to capture the attention of the women there.

Well, I’m not talkin bout locking down forever, baby. / That would be too demanding. / I’m just talkin bout two lonely people / who might reach a little understanding. / I’m not talkin bout knocking out heaven / with whether we’re wrong or we’re right. / I’m not talkin bout hooking up and hanging out. / I’m just talkin bout tonight,” Toby Keith sings.

Emerick also once described his relationship with Keith as one he could have shared with a roommate. Their partnership is one that frequently focuses on the music they can create together, he also explained.

“We’ve spent a lot of time together the last few years, and it’s kind of like your roommate because we’ve traveled everywhere same old bus. And I’ve always got a guitar around me, so I’m always playing, and we’re always trying to find a good idea musically or lyrically, and just build it,” Scotty Emerick has also said. “I guess we’re constantly doing it. There’s a bunch of songs that you don’t hear that were half-finished, or just have one verse and that’s it.”

You can watch Toby Keith’s video for “I’m Just Talkin’ About Tonight” below. If you recognize a familiar sports figure in the video, you’re not wrong. Former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Terry Bradshaw appears in the video. The now 73-year-old Bradshaw is also known for his role as an NFL commentator on Fox.
