Get ready for a very special concert event. Toby Keith and Alabama are co-headlining an event like no other this Labor Day Weekend. Across the country, fans will be able to experience the same show that also features Michael Ray and Blanco Brown. The show is the Country Kickoff to Labor Day Weekend. The unique format should make for a one-of-a-kind experience.
So, mark your calendars for September 2nd. On top of that, check out your local drive-in movie theater (has that been said since 1975 or not?). That’s right, this show is going to air live at over 300 venues across America and the world. The artists are excited about the prospect of this format. Alabama members, Randy Owen and Teddy Gentry commented about the show.
“To reach fans in big cities and small towns all across the country with the same show is going to make for not only an awesome concert experience but a heck of an outdoor tailgate party, too,” said Owen and Gentry. Toby Keith kept his words brief, but succinct. “Have a great Labor Day and enjoy the show!” Tailgating a worldwide, broadcasted concert sounds like a good time.
While this event is going to be rather unique, there have been other series of drive-in concerts. However, this show should really bring the entertainment factor. One reason that is, Toby Keith has an album dropping in October. The prospect of a new song or two being performed is likely high. What better way to close out the summer than partying with hundreds of venues around the world?
Toby Keith Takes on 2021
For one of the headliners, 2021 is looking like Toby Keith has a plan. Not only is he playing the Country Kickoff to Labor Day Weekend, but he has also released new music this year and will release an album in October. The singles that Keith has released so far this season are Happy Birthday America and Old School.
The album, Peso in My Pocket will likely feature one or both of these songs. Toby Keith is one of the top “patriotic” songwriters in country music. Always with an anthem to support the good old red, white, and blue. Happy Birthday America takes on a bit of a sadder tone and references protests that have gone on in recent years. Or, at least alludes to it.
As for his other single, Old School, it is a pretty strong Toby Keith song. People can say what they want about Keith, but the man knows how to write a chorus and a song with a good melody. He has a knack for writing nostalgia-filled tracks that reflect on rural lifestyles and culture. Peso in My Pocket will be the first new, original album that Keith has released since 2017. The Bus Songs feature tracks such as Wacky Tobaccy and Rum Is The Reason.
Find your local drive-in, or make a drive to the nearest one wherever it may be, and enjoy the beginning of Labor Day Weekend with some great music and thousands of people around the world.
