On Thursday morning, country star Toby Keith took to Twitter to share some advice for those that may be feeling a bit down in 2020.
The “Red Solo Cup” singer suggests exactly that; to fill up a red Solo cup, and presumably drown your sorrows away. It’s likely safe to say that many people have already taken his suggestion throughout the trying year.
“If this year has got you down, just fill that Red Solo Cup,” Keith wrote on the post. Additionally, he shared a black and white photo of him toasting a concert crowd with his signature red cup.
His suggestion referenced his 2011 hit song “Red Solo Cup,” which earned him numerous country music award nominations. In fact, the song took home both the CMA and ACM “Video of the Year” awards.
Keith Honors Veterans With Red Solo Cup Toast
On Veterans Day this year, Keith honored American military veterans by saluting them with a red Solo cup toast. The country singer shared a photo of himself on Twitter playing a concert for our military personnel. The picture shows Keith raising his red cup along with hundreds of military men and women doing the same.
“Saluting all who have served on this #VeteransDay,” Keith tweeted.
Once again, Keith referenced his hit song “Red Solo Cup,” which is a staple at his concerts. In an interview, the country singer talked about how catchy the song is. However, he admits the simplicity to the song makes it “so stupid it’s good.”
“It is the stupidest song I ever heard in my life. But, it’s so stupid it’s good,” Keith said to The Boot. “‘Red Solo Cup’ is like a squirrel loose in a church house. We can play it in an office and then play five other songs, give it an hour, walk out, and you’d hear the receptionist singing it. It’s like nursery rhyme stupid.”
