Much like the rest of the world, country music star Toby Keith is ready to have 2020 in the rear view mirror.

Dominated by the deadly COVID-19 virus, 2020 has seen more downs than ups and that includes the country music field. The pandemic has taken the lives of some of country’s biggest and brightest stars. Charley Pride, Joe Diffie and John Prine are among the names who lost their battles to the coronavirus.

Keith took to social media on Tuesday to share with his fans and followers that he is ready to move on from the year that was.

“Good riddance to 2020,” the country star writes in the Instagram post caption.

Keith’s fans and social media followers strongly agree with him as the post garnered more than 2,000 “likes” in under an hour.

Toby Keith Turns Attention to 2021

The singer has already turned his sights to 2021, announcing he will be touring during the summer months. He also says he is recording new music to the delight of his millions of fans. It would be the “Should Have Been a Cowboy” singer’s first new album in five years. His last studio album “35 MPH Town” was put out in 2015.

Earlier this year, Keith lamented the fact that the coronavirus has kept him from performing live for his fans. Earlier this year, Keith found himself in quite a tough situation. He was forced to quarantine while in Mexico and did have a guitar or recording equipment with him.

The songwriting Hall-of-Famer would later find a guitar at a furniture store and did the only thing he knew to do — make music. In what he called the “Furniture Store Guitar Sessions” he found a way to connect with his fans. He recorded videos of himself singing familiar tunes, and using his phone, put them on social media.

Outsiders are happy to join Keith in waving goodbye to 2020.
