Is there a super secretive country-rap collaboration on the way? A fan recently tweeted that she couldn’t stop thinking about rapper/songwriter Post Malone wearing a cowboy hat and singing a Toby Keith song.

Then Toby Keith retweeted the fans tweet. This led the fan to hypothesize if maybe there was something else going on here.

The rapper is known for his interest in the country world. He knows a good deal about classic country music. Malone is a huge fan of Shania Twain, has played with artists like Keith Urban, Blake Shelton, and Dwight Yoakam. He even wore a Dolly Parton suit to Bonnaroo.

Country Duo Malone and Keith?

Is there any chance that Post’s dreams could come true?

There was also a cover that Malone released about a year ago of him singing a Bob Dylan song (who is not technically a country artist either). However, fans on Reddit said that the artist had a bit of a country-essence to his voice.

One person commented “The world needs more Folk Malone” while another said, “Dude just uses rap to build his name.”

Post Malone’s songs like “Feeling Whitney” and “Sunflower” are just two of the artists’ songs that explore something beyond just rap music. The singer/songwriter has a voice that goes beyond just traditional rap-style music.

Back in 2018, Toby Keith posted a short video to his Facebook of the two jamming out together. So, it’s definitely no secret the two know each other.

Earlier this summer Keith released a video for “Don’t Let the Old Man In.” He is set to go on tour in April of 2021.

Music fans must wait with fingers crossed to see if whether or not a collab is in the two musicians’ future.
