Travis Tritt Posts Sweet Photo With ‘All the Wonderful Moms’ in His Family

Country star Travis Tritt celebrated Mother’s Day with four mothers. And he’s got the pictures to prove it.

“I’m so happy that I got to spend Mother’s Day with all the wonderful moms in my immediate family!” Tritt posted to Instagram Wednesday. “Love you all!”

Travis Tritt’s New Album is the Fruit of His Labors During the Pandemic

As if his Mother’s Day weekend wasn’t busy enough, Tritt dropped a new album on Friday, May 7. Called Set in Stone, the album is the result of Tritt returning to the studio for the first time in 13 years after the pandemic hit.

As Tritt told Grammy.com, he had actually been kicking around the idea since his manager suggested it in 2019.

“One of the first things [manager Mike ‘Cheez’ Brown] told me when we started working together was, ‘I still think you’ve got a lot of music left in you,’” Tritt told the website. “The more we started talking about an album, the more I started thinking that was a really good idea. But I had been out of the studio for so long, I still had a little bit of concern about it.”

Set in Stone celebrates the outlaw country sound that is Tritt’s trademark. And it owes a lot to Grammy Award-winning producer Dave Cobb, who reportedly opened up a whole new world of co-writers for Tritt. Tritt said he had some reservations about going back into the studio, but Cobb’s process put him at ease.

“He records with a live band—no digital sampling going on—and tries to record as many live vocals as possible during that same period,” Tritt said of Cobb. “That’s the way I’ve done it since I first started recording back in the ’80s. I don’t think this album would be what it is if it hadn’t been for that opportunity to work together.”

Fans Can Expect Another Album Sooner than 13 Years From Now

While Travis Tritt loves the road, he says he’ll be back in the studio to record another album much sooner than he was for this album. Tritt quoted the old adage, “Dance with the one that brought you,” and said he owes a debt of gratitude to his fans. This time around, he said he won’t keep them waiting so long for new material.

“Now that I’ve had opportunities to work with these younger songwriters, and some of these producers that are current and relevant today, I think you can anticipate that I will be not having these long hiatuses in the future,” Tritt said. “I’m definitely going to be writing and recording more, and I’m going to try to bring new music to the table as often as I can. [Dave Cobb], my manager, and these young songwriters all contributed to helping light a fire underneath me.”

Tritt told Billboard that he’s not chasing radio play with this record. Instead, he’s looking to distribute his music through streaming services. The end goal?

“I basically am trying to do what I’ve always done, which is get my music out to as many people as I possibly can,” he said.
