Legendary rock guitarist Eddie Van Halen passed away on October 6. Country music superstar Travis Tritt was there to share his feelings soon after.
Tritt took to Twitter to share his thoughts on Halen’s passing, just as he has recently about several other topics.
“Another legendary musical innovator gone too soon. #RIPEddieVanHalen,” he wrote.
Eddie passed away at 65 after struggling with cancer over the years. His cancer moved from his lungs to his brain and other organs. He had been moving between the US and Germany for five years receiving radiation treatment.
Mourning his father, son Wolfgang wrote a heartfelt message on Instagram in his honor.
“He was the best father I could ever ask for. Every moment I’ve shared with him on and off stage was a gift. My heart is broken and I don’t think I’ll ever fully recover from this loss.” He added, “I love you so much, Pop.”
Recently, Travis Tritt also had to contend with another songwriter’s death. Mac Davis, who write several hit songs, passed away only a few days prior.
“Very sad tonight!” Tritt tweeted. “I just heard that legendary singer, songwriter, and actor, Mac Davis has passed away after heart surgery. I grew up watching The Mac Davis show and loving his talent. This is heartbreaking!”
