Country music’s golden couple Trisha Yearwood and Garth Brooks are always looking so in love. And sure, it’s difficult to be married in general, but being celebrities with full schedules and still trying to prioritize love? It’s kind of a miracle. However, the country sweethearts make it look easy.

While the two have been in the business for a long time, they’ve grown accustomed to the spotlight – and adjusting as needed.

Recently, Yearwood opened up about just how the stars keep their marriage on the up and up in an interview with Taste of Country.

“People ask me all the time about why our marriage is successful, and I always say because we were married to other people and we were friends for a long time, we were friends — we were buddies — and you’ll tell your friends stuff that you would never tell a guy you’re dating, right?”

Building a friendship is never a bad idea when setting up a strong foundation. The singer continued:

“So we knew everything about each other that you would never tell somebody that you wanted to really impress, so we had this strong base friendship that I think a lot of couples don’t get because — and I was guilty of that, too — you go straight into a romance with somebody, and a few years down the line, you’re like, “I don’t like this guy. What was I thinking?”

Trisha Yearwood and Garth Brooks’ History of Success

With 30 years in the industry and success after success, Yearwood is still making moves and influencing the industry. Alongside her showing support, is her partner-in-crime Garth Brooks.

Moreover, while they wed in 2005, Yearwood and Brooks had a strong friendship long before. The two even shared the stage several times before becoming romantically involved. Yearwood discusses how she really got behind Brooks and supported him early on.

“You know, I knew him before his first album came out, so I got to watch that success and see him become just a bigger, more famous version of himself,” she said. “And it was really valuable to me as an opening act for him in ’91 to watch … the way he treated the crew, the way he took care of his band, the way he talked to everybody that wanted to interview him, the way he signed autographs after a show.”

The two have been role models for other power couples in the industry, including Faith Hill and Tim McGraw. In addition, setting an example of family and prioritizing each other is also a factor of their happy marriage.

While Garth Brooks recently canceled his stadium tour due to Covid-19 cases rising, the singer expressed his gratitude for his wife’s support throughout all his career moves.
