Original coach of The Voice, Blake Shelton, received a light-hearted shoutout from the show today.
Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani just officially announced their engagement via Twitter. And it didn’t take long for those close to them to react. The official Twitter account for The Voice shared a tweet, complete with a GIF, of Shelton sporting a crown with a very fitting caption.
“You dropped this, king.”
Shelton refers to himself as the “King of The Voice” in a blooper reel from the show. He even mentions that since he’s been there for 19 seasons, it’s time that he lives up to his status. Of course, the other coaches find it hilarious.
Shelton remains the winningest coach on the show – crowing a champion 8 times and being runner up 10 times. He’s winning in more ways than one, The Voice also introduced him to the woman that’s “saving his life.”
His newly announced fiancé is also returning to season 19. Stefani will be joining John Legend, Kelly Clarkson, and fiancé Shelton. She left the show for her Las Vegas residency but is back and ready to take out Shelton.
Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani Announce Engagement After 5 Years of Dating
The romance started between Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani after meeting on The Voice in 2015. Stefani’s been quoted that she never heard of Shelton until they met on the set of the singing competition show. Fast forward 5 years later – a pandemic, a new house, plus a couple of songs along the way, Shelton popped the question.
The engagement announcement comes just a week after the pair faced breakup rumors.
