WATCH: Carrie Underwood and Dwight Yoakam Totally Nail Their Duet at CMA Summer Jam

In a previous article, we highlighted country superstar Carrie Underwood’s popularity featuring in duets across genres. During the CMA Summer Jam this week, Underwood collaborated with country music legend Dwight Yoakam. The surprise pair closed out the first of two nights of the Summer Jam concerts. Both artists not only nailed their duet, but they also nailed their dance moves. Check out the video below to catch the two powerhouse artists rocking the Summer Jam concerts at Nashville’s Ascend Amphitheater on Tuesday night.

During their set, Underwood and Yoakam performed the latter artist’s famous hit “A Thousand Miles From Nowhere.” This particular song featured on his fifth studio album, This Time. The legendary pair only enhanced Yoakam’s famous song, bringing an exciting end to the night. They also performed Yoakam’s twangier song “Guitars & Cadillacs” together. They not only making for a memorable duet, but they also danced around the stage together.

According to Taste of Country, Underwood also performed several of her hit songs including, “Blown Away,” “Jesus, Take the Wheel,” and “Before He Cheats.” Later in her set, she featured artist Mickey Guyton. Guyton “performed a solo version of her unreleased song, ‘All American.’” Underwood further acknowledged other country stars who’d performed earlier that night. However, she shared with fans, “I think everybody knew that closing this thing down was a woman’s work.” When it comes to the star’s incredibly large fan base and reputation, we can’t help but agree.

Carrie Underwood is Talented at Pulling Off Surprises.

Not only did the country music icon feature Mickey Guyton during her set at the CMA Summer Jam concert and surprise the audience with country music legend Dwight Yoakam. She just recently surprised Guyton’s son a piano, which is quite the gift from the “American Idol” legend herself. Guyton gave birth to her first son back in February 2021. According to Guyton, the adorable little piano arrived at her mailbox on one particularly hard day. “To watch him light up as he plays is the heart explosion I didn’t know I needed,” she shared on her Twitter account. Underwood responded that she was very happy to see how much the baby loved the piano. “What a cutie!” she responded to the post. Guyton’s little one is sure to grow up musically inclined in some way. After all, he’s surrounded by some pretty legendary music artists.

While the most recent Guyton performance during the CMA Summer Jam was definitely memorable, it wasn’t the first time Underwood and Guyton were seen sharing the same stage. The talented pair also dueted together at the 2019 54th Annual ACM Awards, country music’s most widely recognized award show of the year. Together, they sang “I’m Standing With You,” featured in the film, “Breakthrough.” While Underwood has found a new friend in legendary Dwight Yoakam, she’s only furthered her friendship with Guyton since their duet at the ACM Awards.
