WATCH: Jon Pardi Releases Intimate, Live Performance of Joe Diffie’s ‘Prop Me Up Beside The Jukebox (If I Die)’

Jon Pardi has put his touch on a classic country song. Singing as part of the “Rancho Fiesta Sessions,” the recently married star recently showcased his version of Joe Diffie’s “Prop Me Up Beside The Jukebox (If I Die).”

Pardi announced the video via Twitter on Tuesday. “Tipping my hat to you, @JoeDiffieOnline,” he wrote.

Joe Diffie released “Prop Me Up Beside the Jukebox (If I Die)” in 1993. The singer-songwriter died due to complications from COVID-19 in March 2020 at the age of 61. You can watch Jon Pardi give his intimate, live performance of Joe Diffie’s classic song below.

Pardi’s cover of this song is not the first time the 35-year-old has honored Diffie. He performed “Pickup Man,” another Diffie classic, during the 2020 CMA Awards earlier this year. After the performance, Pardi took to Twitter and wrote: “Hope I did you proud last night, @JoeDiffieOnline.”

Diffie’s late wife, Tara Terpening, gave Pardi a standing ovation after the performance.

In addition to this country staple, Jon Pardi’s “Rancho Fiesta Sessions” album includes covers of well-known songs such as “The Bottle Let Me Down,” “Honky Tonk Man,” “Somebody’s Doin’ Me Right,” and “Nothing Compares 2 U.”

Jon Pardi Gets Married, Plans Unique Christmas Gift for New Bride

Pardi has stayed busy in recent months, including marrying Summer Duncan at Saddle Woods Farms in Murfreesboro, Tennessee in late November. The newlyweds are planning to travel to several states in the near future to visit with family and friends who could not attend the ceremony.

Jon Pardi is also planning to give his new bride a unique Christmas gift. Is it jewelry? No. Is it a new car? No. Is it a cow? Yep. And not just any cow, a Highlander cow from Scotland.

“I was supposed to go look at this cow,” Pardi told Taste of Country. “[Summer] really wants a Highlander cow. I don’t know if you know what a Highlander cow is, but they’re big, fluffy cows, and they’re very tame. Basically, they’re really great in a petting zoo, and she really wants one.”
