What a delightful way to spend several minutes of your time. Listen to Garth Brooks and Kelly Clarkson sing “Shallow” from a “A Star Is Born.”
Folks probably shouldn’t tell Trisha Yearwood that Brooks, her husband, and Clarkson, the singer who idolizes her, enjoyed singing the duet. But truth be told, it was fabulous. And it was right there on Clarkson’s talk show, which spent its entire Monday hour on Brooks and Clarkson singing and swapping stories.
Check it out.
Garth Brooks And Kelly Clarkson Sizzled In Duet, But As Friends
Clarkson opened Monday’s show by speaking of her adoration for Brooks.
“Like the rest of America,” Clarkson said. “I remain obsessed with Garth Brooks.”
By the end of the very hot song, Brooks was fanning himself. When Clarkson went from the low notes straight to the high parts, Brooks nodded along, keeping time and smiling broadly.
He then asked for the camera to focus on him directly. Brooks grinned and told Yearwood he didn’t enjoy singing with Clarkson. And Clarkson laughed long and hard at the joke.
“Shallow” won Lady Gaga a host of awards after the 2018 “Star Is Born” release. Gaga, the international superstar, won an Academy Award, a couple of Grammys, a Golden Globe and a Critic’s Choice trophy.
She and Bradley Cooper, who also starred in the movie, showed so much chemistry that they spawned rumors about whether they were having an affair. Lady Gaga finally had to say enough with the stories. The movie, in this case, didn’t mimic real life.
Clarkson and Brooks’ performance obviously won’t spark those rumors. They looked like two long-time friends singing their favorite songs. They sang against a backdrop of Christmas trees on the set of Clarkson’s talk show. Clarkson said singing is what you do for the holidays. We agree, especially if you can hit the notes like those two.
Brooks’ duet with Yearwood does mimic real life. The idea of singing the duet between the husband and wife actually was proposed during a Facebook Live session. That was back in March.
The two then recorded the song and released it in October. It was included in Brooks’ album that was released just before Thanksgiving.
Clarkson also performs the song, but she’s never recorded it.
She Also Loves Singing “Shallow” Solo
Clarkson also loves singing “Shallow.” She started included the song in some of her concerts. Clarkson said she included the song because of her love and respect for Lady Gaga.
At a concert in Wisconsin, Clarkson performed both the parts of Gaga and Cooper.
“This chick is amazing,” she said. “We’re really different but at the same time, we’re really similar in the fact that she just loves music and that’s why she’s doing what she’s doing.”
