Yet again, Kelly Clarkson proved she’s still got it when she performed a cover of Billy Currington’s “Let Me Down Easy.”
She performed the song on her Emmy-winning daytime television show, “The Kelly Clarkson Show.” Boy, did she deliver. The former American Idol winner showed off her chops with her pitch-perfect notes as she sang the soulful ballad.
During her segment, “Kellyoke,” she gave viewers a stripped-down version of the 2010 hit. With her grace and ease, she adds her sincerity and soul to the song.
Behind her, her house band “Y’all” performs with her. In true Kelly Clarkson form, she opts for less glitz and glam; instead, it’s just her behind the microphone. Doing so, she’s able to hone in the emotional tone of Currington’s lyrics.
Back in 2010, Currington made a name for himself when the song hit the radio. Like wildfire, it lit up the country charts and became the second single off his “Enjoy Yourself” album. “Let Me Down Easy” also became No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart. It would become Currington’s fourth consecutive hit to make it on the charts. Songwriters Jennifer Hanson, Marty Dodson, and Mark Nesler wrote the song.
Kelly Clarkson: Wynonna Judd’s Biggest Fan
This isn’t the first time Clarkson has impressed us with her pipes. Earlier in November, she knocked it out of the park when she covered the iconic country song, “No One Else On Earth.” Originally sung by country artist Wynonna Judd, Clarkson adds her flair to it with her stunning range and pitch.
At the end of her performance, Kelly made her love for Wynonna crystal clear when she shouted, “Wynonna Judd, get it!
In 2015, Clarkson performed Judd’s 1992 hit song “I Saw the Light” during her Piece By Piece Tour. She also performed “Why Not Me”, a song made famous by the Judd family.
