Is there anything more “Kenny Chesney” sunny weather, blue ocean and some rum? You’d be hard-pressed to find something that better sums up the country legend.
“Every holiday season for as long as I’ve been a child, we’ve heard the phrase, ‘Peace on Earth,'” Chesney said. “I can’t think of a more crucial time where that phrase rings more true than now. It’s what we all want for Christmas. I want peace on earth, I want everyone to be happy, I want everybody to be healthy, I want them to have joy in their hearts, I want them to have music in their hearts.”
“I want them, somehow, to transport themselves right here to this chair, to Blue Chair Bay and just enjoy the season.”
Chesney then goes to talk about his holiday special coconut rum cream, throws on a Santa hat and wishes everyone well at the end of the year. Truly, Chesney in his element.
Kenny Chesney Reflects on Early Christmas Memories
While Chesney is no stranger to massive crowds and the spotlight, that wasn’t always the case. In fact, he was described as more of a “behind-the-scenes” kid growing up.
In Christmas plays and events, Chesney would rather stay to the side than be a “star.”
“I think one time I held the star, you know, and did it behind them. You know, I didn’t…never did show my face. I was holding the star going through the night. That’s all I did. I remember doing that one year. But all my other buddies was Joseph and Mary and all that stuff,” Chesney said.
“I never did, really, get out on stage that much. Never really did sing in the Christmas play and…no, I was pretty scared to get up there then!”
Needless to say, it’s a far cry from where Chesney ended up
