Previous to Kid Rock’s arrival, Hank Williams Jr. had already been giving the audience one hell of a show. Amongst the whooping and hollering of excited fans in the crowd, Hank Jr. began playing a well-known melody on his guitar.

“Sweet Home Alabama”

The opening guitar riff to the ballad is highly recognizable and unlike any other. Therefore, while the chords were being plucked, the concertgoers prepared themselves for an epic rendition of “Sweet Home Alabama” by Hank Jr.

Concertgoers immediately erupt. Then, the cheering reaches a whole other sound octave that’s loud enough to blow the roof off the concert venue.

What caused the explosion of excitement? It was the moment Kid Rock came out and joined ole’ Hank for the “Sweet Home Alabama” cover. No one was expecting such a special duet by two music legends.

Kid Rock came bursting onto the stage filled with energy and excitement to perform with his good bud, Hank. He was obviously ready to throw down while honoring the greatness of Lynyrd Skynyrd and “Sweet Home Alabama.”

Rock joins Williams and begins belting out a heartfelt delivery of the lyrics. His rambunctious attitude onstage is the same as that found in the iconic band who’s behind the famous tune.

Fans can’t believe their eyes or ears as the two country-rock performers tickle listeners’ earbuds with a rich, rowdy, and raw rendition of Skynyrd’s greatest and most successful single.

The Magic of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Hank Jr., and Kid Rock

Williams and Kid Rock both bring their own unique sounds to the country music genre. Of course, Hank Jr. is as country as chicken-fried steak, but he adds in hints of blues and Southern rock. He is tied to the Southern rock genre and those who are part of it. Therefore, the artist has developed close relationships with other Southern rockers.

In fact, Hank Williams, Jr. is longtime friends with the guys in Lynyrd Skynyrd. The Southern rock band is quite possibly the best and most prolific out there. “Sweet Home Alabama” is without a doubt the state’s unofficial anthem. The single is well-known even among many people who don’t listen to country or Southern rock music. It’s a true classic.

This is one cover of “Sweet Home Alabama” that Lynyrd Skynyrd’s late band members would tip their hats and rock out to.
