During Miranda Lambert’s first show since the tragic passing of her dog, the country music singer couldn’t help but feel overcome with emotion.

At one point during her set, she sang her nostalgic, heartwrenching hit, “The House That Built Me.” However, once she started singing, she realized she had her fans to help her get through the emotional number.

Lambert watched in amazement as a sea of fans joined together in harmony to sing the tune. Knowing that the country music star had just endured heartache from putting her dog down, her fans came together to show their support of Lambert.

After nearly 14 years of love, Lambert’s beloved dog, Jessi, passed away on Thursday. Afterward, the singer shared a beautiful tribute to her four-legged family member on social media, along with a string of pictures of Jessi and the dog’s brother, Waylon, who passed away in October 2020.

Miranda rescued the two pups on the side of an Oklahoma road back in 2008 during a sleet storm. The singer explained that she and her mom were driving together when they found the pair.

They were listening to Jessie Colter at the time, which is how the two dogs got their country music-themed names. According to Lambert, the pups were inseparable their whole lives, up until Waylon’s death.

“The truth is they belong together. They always have,” she wrote in the tribute. “I know she missed him terribly and we are so thankful to have had extra time. Today they are reunited at the rainbow bridge.”

The dogs were just two of the lucky dogs and animals that resided at Lambert’s farm. In 2020, Lambert partnered with the Waggle Foundation to establish the MuttNation Fund, which helps music industry employees cover their pets’ medical bills amid the pandemic.

She was inspired to launch the charity after her backup singer and friend Gwen Sebastian’s dog Earl fell ill in March with a rare liver disorder as coronavirus infections rose.

“I can’t put into words what a dog’s love does to your heart. But if you have one, you already know,” Lambert said in the conclusion of her post. “It’s so hard to let them go but the love is worth it.”

After she published the post, Lambert thanked the veterinarians who helped take care of Jessi. She added: “A special thank you to the incredible team at @animaliawellness @vrsmtn for taking such good care of these two and all of our other fur babies.”

In the comments section, her fans and friends commented with their condolences. Country star Tanya Tucker wrote, “I’m so sorry honey! Jessi had a long wonderful life with you being the badass momma! Sending y’all my love.”
