It’s a fact that Tim McGraw and Faith Hill are one of country music’s favorite couples. Since 1996, the pair have not only wowed us with their music— but also with their undeniable love for one another.
That love was further proven in 2018 when the couple took the stage during a tour stop in Minneapolis, Minn. during their Soul2Soul World Tour. Tim McGraw and Hill performed their usual duets and hit singles from their careers. However, during the night, an impromptu performance left her husband stunned to the point that he fell to his knees.
Hill took to the stage to surprise her fans with a tribute to the late pop singer, Prince. To honor him, she gave a beautiful rendition of his hit song, “Purple Rain.” Minneapolis, Prince’s native city, was the perfect place for Hill to try her hand at his smash hit. Hill asked her band for a note before singing while her husband was walking along the other section of the stage.
Moments later, Hill had all eyes on her when she began belting out the first lines of “Purple Rain.” Almost immediately, a stunned Tim McGraw collapsed after he heard his wife hit the notes. He threw his hands in the air and gave his wife a look of pure disbelief. Even after decades of marriage, she still left him stunned with her musical ability.
Tim McGraw Faints During Soul2Soul Tour
At the time, the couple had been married for over 22 years. Their magical chemistry on stage that night proved they had many more years to go. Following their first-ever collaborative album, The Rest of Our Life, the couple hit the road with their Soul2Soul tour. The tour began on Apr. 7, 2017, in New Orleans and concluded on Jul. 24, 2018, in Paso Robles.
Tim McGraw experienced a different kind of collapse during another moment while on tour. During the show in Dubin on Mar. 11, 2018, he fainted following his “Humble and Kind” performance. He was carried offstage by members of his crew. After half an hour, Hill returned to the stage and announced that McGraw was ok but had suffered from dehydration.
Later, Hill and the band performed “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” to end the show. Although saddened, the crowd applauded and began chanting “get well Tim.” Later, the couple wrote that McGraw “was attended to by local medical staff on-site and will be fine.” The statement also added that “he and Faith thank everyone for their love and support and look forward to seeing their Irish fans again soon”.
