WATCH: Travis Tritt Performs ‘It’s A Great Day to Be Alive’ at Recent Grand Ole Opry Show

Country music star and Opry member Travis Tritt took to the stage on Saturday, Feb 27, to perform his hit song “It’s A Great Day To Be Alive.”

Tritt finally made his return to the Grand Ole Opry stage on Saturday after nearly 30 years. While there, Tritt treated his fans with his rendition of “It’s A Great Day To Be Alive.”

The country star released his version of the classic song in December of 2000. It was listed as the second single from his album Down the Road I Go. The song peaked at No. 2 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Singles and Tracks chart after its release. It was also able to hit No. 33 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Both his original version and his rendition Saturday at the Grand Ole Opry are sure to give anyone goosebumps. You’ll be hard-pressed to read the chorus of the song without singing it for yourself.

And it’s a great day to be alive
I know the sun’s still shinin’ when I close my eyes
There’s some hard times in the neigborhood
But why can’t every day be just this good?

Travis Tritt and Chris Janson Pay Tribute to Waylon Jennings

In addition to Travis Tritt performing his hit song “It’s A Great Day To Be Alive,” he also debuted a new song as well as honored a fellow country music legend.

Tritt teamed up with Chris Janson on stage Saturday at the Grand Ole Opry for the first time. And they did so to pay tribute to the great Waylon Jennings.

The duo performed the Waylon Jennings classic hit “Are You Sure Hank Done It This Way.” Meanwhile, Janson gave country fans a little insight as to how the collaboration with Travis Tritt came together.

“I sent Travis a message this week and said ‘Hey, don’t you think we oughta sing a little bit together for the first time ever, and we do it on the Grand Ole Opry stage?’” Janson said prior to the performance.

The performances on Saturday night were also part of a larger cause. The Grand Ole Opry, Circle, and Gray Television put the show together to raise awareness of hunger and food insecurity issues in the US. As many know, recent winter storms have made these issues much more prominent as of late.

All of the proceeds from the show went to Feeding America, which is a network of food banks and pantries across the country.
