Shooter Jennings Honors the Man in Black

That’s exactly what happened to Shooter Jennings, whose dad is the famous Waylon Jennings. The birth of Waylon’s youngest son was such a powerful experience that Jennings’ best friend, the one and only Man in Black, was one of the first to see Shooter.

Shooter posted a photo on September 12th, the 17th anniversary of Cash’s death. He died in 2003 at the age of 71. Many took to social media to honor the country legend, including his daughter Roseanne.

In Shooter’s caption honoring Johnny Cash, he shares the photo of his dad and Johnny as they hold him minutes after his birth. He writes that the photo was taken about two minutes after his birth.

Minutes after his birth, his mother Jessi Colter, handed Shooter to his father, who lovingly and proudly displayed the newborn to his dear friend, Cash.

Waylon’s smile is electric while decked out in scrubs. The birth of his youngest son is obviously an experience that filled the new father with joy. Johnny smiles as he looks happy for his friend and glad to see the sweet and healthy baby in his father’s arms.

The Two’s True Friendship

The two often performed together, and it was obvious they had a close friendship.
