Country group Zac Brown Band gave fans a treat today on New Music Friday.

The band shared the link to their new cover song, “Sweet Baby James,” on their Instagram. The song is currently exclusive only to Amazon Music. Other streaming platforms do not currently have the song yet.

The song is a cover of James Taylor’s iconic tune. The song was first heard on the opening track of Taylor’s 1970 album of the same name.

Doing ‘Sweet Baby James’ Justice

Now, the Zac Brown Band is hoping to do the classic hit, which Taylor said was one of his best in 2015, the justice it deserves.

“I started listening to James Taylor in elementary school. He’s probably my single biggest influence that I’ve ever had. What Taylor plays on the acoustic guitar is very hard – there are moving baselines, and there’s a rhythm and melody all playing at one time. He showed me what you can do with a single guitar to accompany a song. I hope our fans love this as much as we do,” Zac Brown said in a press release, according to American Songwriter.

The song was in honor of his brother and the baby that was named after him. According to Songfacts, Alex Taylor, his brother, wanted to name his son after his brother, James. The song is a soft lullaby to a young cowboy.

When he was a child, James Taylor and his siblings would often sing each other to sleep. The song is an ode to his brother and to his childhood.

Recently, the Zac Brown Band has also released the songs “The Man Who Loves You The Most” and “You and Islands.” The former had reached No. 1 status and was first heard on John Krasinski’s “Some Good News” YouTube show. It was used to serenade a bride and her father during their virtual wedding.

James Taylor and Zac Brown Band

This isn’t the first time Taylor and Brown joined forces. In fact, in the past they even shared the same stage.

At the 2011 ACM Awards, the two hit the stage to sing the band’s hit song at the time, “Colder Weather.”

The performance was one of the few that night that received a standing ovation from the crowd.

“Colder Weather” was the group’s seventh single release overall. It was from their 2010 album, “You Get What You Give.” The music video for the song featured popular Australian actor Liam Hemsworth as the main male character. He temporarily leaves his girlfriend during the winter.

The song was No. 1 on the Billboard’s U.S. Hot Country Songs.
