ABC’s Dancing With The Stars has fired former hosts, Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews. Additionally, the reality competition show revealed that the new host is none other than supermodel Tyra Banks.

What Tom Bergeron Had to Say

Bergeron tweeted on Monday (July 13) that he was fired as host of the show. The news was especially shocking since he served as a co-host for the entirety of the show’s run. “Just informed @DancingABC will be continuing without me,” he wrote. “It’s been an incredible 15 year run and the most unexpected gift of my career. I’m grateful for that and for the lifelong friendships made. That said, now what am I supposed to do with all of these glitter masks?”

Furthermore, one fan asked if his firing would mean that he would be a contestant on the show. “Um…no,” he replied.

Erin Andrews’ Social Media Posts

“Thank you ABC and the entire Dancing with the Stars family for 6 memorable seasons,” she tweeted on Tuesday (July 14). “Those years wouldn’t have been as special without my loving host Tom Bergeron, the talented dancers, and witty judges. I will always cherish my days on set, even if I wasn’t the best at walking in heels.'”

Finally, Andrews made light of the situation by responding to her former co-hosts joke about not getting his monogrammed towels back. “You got towels?” she quipped, along with a crying laughing emoji and winking face emoji.

Dancing With The Stars’ Statement

“Tom Bergeron will forever be part of the Dancing with the Stars family,” ABC and BBC Studios said in a joint statement to TV Line. “As we embark on a new creative direction, he departs the show with our sincerest thanks and gratitude for his trademark wit and charm that helped make this show a success. Erin will also not be returning, and we appreciate all that she brought to the ballroom. Fans have been rooting for her since she originally competed as a contestant back in 2010, and her signature sense of humor has become a hallmark of the show.”

Tyra Banks’ Comments

Aside from her hosting duties, Banks will also serve as an executive producer alongside showrunner Andrew Llinares. Both the show and Banks said the show will be moving in a new creative direction.

“I’ve been a fan of DWTS since its beginning,” Banks told E! News in a statement. “The fun mixed with raw emotion, seeing celebrities push past their comfort zones, the sizzling dance performances … it’s always transported me to my days of turning it up 10 notches on the catwalk,” Banks said in a statement. “Tom has set a powerful stage, and I’m excited to continue the legacy and put on my executive producer and hosting hats.”
