You’ll have to forgive Darius Rucker. When the country singer talks about the Miami Dolphins, he sees the team through the prism of a super fan.

So, it’s no surprise that he predicts the Dolphins are Super Bowl bound.

Miami is 6-3. There’s definitely a lot to like about the Dolphins, a team that’s won five straight games.

Before there should be any conversation about the Super Bowl, though, maybe Miami should first make the playoffs. The Dolphins haven’t done so since 2016. They last played in a Super Bowl in 1984.

Darius Rucker and Other Super Fans Have Reason For Hope

While the Dolphins have had quite the Super Bowl drought, this year’s team is giving super fans like Rucker a lot of hope.

The resurgence starts with a new starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, a rookie from Alabama. A year ago this week, Tagovailoa was having surgery to repair a dislocated hip. His pro football future was in danger of not happening.

Remember the song “Only Want To Be With You,” by Hootie and the Blowfish? That’s back when Rucker was the lead singer. The song features the words, “I’m such a baby ’cause the Dolphins make me cry.”

That was about the Miami Dolphins. It’s true. They have made a lot of fans cry.

In fact, Rucker’s love for the Dolphins started with a devastating memory. He told NFL.com that the seeds of his love were planted after Miami lost to the Dallas Cowboys in Super Bowl VI, 24-3

Rucker presumably was able to relax and enjoy Miami’s 29-21 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers. He spent a chunk of football season prepping for the CMA Awards show, which was broadcast last Wednesday.
