Dennis Quaid is not happy with the “cancel culture” reactions to his coronavirus (COVID-19) PSA.

What Dennis Quaid Had to Say

The Parent Trap actor posted an Instagram video on Saturday (September 26) to address the backlash from his public service announcement. Additionally, Quaid said that he is “feeling some outrage and a lot of disappointment” over the response to his PSA.

“It is being used by the cancel culture media that I was doing a campaign ad and endorsement of Donald Trump, and that I was paid handsomely for this by diverted CDC funds,” he said.

Quaid revealed that he was not paid and that it was not a political ad. His goal was to raise “awareness for COVID-19 and what we can still do to prevent lives being lost to this terrible, terrible virus.” He added that the fan and media responses were “nothing could be further from the truth.”

“It was about the importance of wearing a mask, about social distancing, and was in no way political,” he continued.

“I am really disappointed that some people who call themselves legitimate reporters don’t do their homework. If you would like to listen to my entire conversation with Dr. Anthony Fauci, you can, it’s on my podcast The Dennisance on Audio Up. Whoever wrote this story obviously did not listen to the interview.”

The Public Service Announcement

The ad is set to air on November 3. The announcement also features Surgeon General Jerome Adams, and CeCe Winans. Furthermore, Winans also shared a statement regarding the PSA and confirmed that it is “not political at all.”

“This interview stresses how important it is for everyone to wear a mask, and it also gives us other instructions on how to get on the other side of this pandemic,” she explained. “We have lost so many lives because of COVID-19. Let’s all do everything we can, so we won’t lose any more.”
