Dog the Bounty Hunter Responds to Viral Photo Showing Plane Flying ‘Aloha Brian Laundrie’ Banner

Recently an image went viral seeming to hold a message directed at Brian Laundrie from Dog the Bounty Hunter himself. Before Dog even saw the photo, he was credited with the display. If you’re unfamiliar, a plane started circling Florida with a banner attached to it

The banner read “Aloha Brian Laundrie — Dog.” The reactions varied, as they so often do whenever Dog the Bounty Hunter gets involved. The thing is, he wasn’t actually responsible. Here’s what he said about it.

Dog Didn’t Do It But He Approves

When Dog the Bounty Hunter announced his plans to join the Gabby Petito investigation, he was met with a lot of side-eye. Still, Gabby Petito’s family said they welcome any help, including his. So with an iffy legal status, he planted down a home base in Florida hoping to follow some of the leads from his anonymous tipline. These tips took him to a campsite where the Laundrie family is confirmed to have visited twice. Here, he launched a full-on search for Brian Laundrie.

Set up with crews on land and water, Dog says he’s sure the team is on Brian Laundrie’s trail now. He is also joined by his daughter and although they don’t have any groundbreaking evidence just yet, they do believe they stumbled on some clues to his appearance in the area. And while he posted some messages to Brian in the past, this latest act wasn’t a publicity stunt from him or his team. Actually, they had nothing to do with it at all.

“Frankly, I wish I had thought of that, but it wasn’t our team,” he says. “I’d love to shake the hand of whoever is behind the banner, I’ll tell you that.”

The statement comes from his verified Twitter account and you can catch the tweet below:

Updates to the Search for Brian Laundrie

The lawyer of Brian Laundrie and his parents has had a lot of work to do this month. Steven Bertolino joined the case before news of Gabby Petito’s homicide even came to light. While he tries to protect the family from the court of public opinion, he sporadically shares statements, primarily on their behalf.

A recent statement from him confirmed the news about Brian’s new cellphone purchase. However, the statement also proved to be adamantly against its use as a “burner phone.” Since then, new updates caused him to issue another statement Thursday. It followed another visit to the Laundrie residence by FBI agents. You can read about it here.

At this time, it’s unclear whether the FBI will turn their efforts to join Dog, or if they will maintain a separate search at the Reserve. Only time will tell.
