Donald Trump reportedly ended his 60 minutes interview early and did not return for the “Walk and Talk” segment. He now tweets the interview was full of bias, as he fires shots at Lesley Stahl.
President Trump spoke with Lesley Stahl for around 45 minutes before abruptly ending the interview. The President refused to return for a segment planned with Vice President Pence, CNN reports. The news site says he reportedly “told the network he believed they had enough material to use,” leaving before the interview was complete.
The 60 Minutes interview with Trump will air on CBS on Sunday, along with interviews with Mike Pence, Joe Biden, and Kamala Harris. CNN White House correspondent Kaitlan Collins reports on the interviews, “While Biden and Harris taped their interviews separately, Trump and Pence were scheduled to appear on camera together. They ultimately did not and Pence taped his separately.”
Now, Donald Trump says via Twitter that he may release the interview footage before its Sunday airtime on CBS. He plans to release it sooner to ensure the public gets a glimpse of the “fake and biased interview.”
Soon following the first tweet announcing his disdain with the interview, Donald Trump replied to his tweet’s thread, saying, “…Everyone should compare this terrible Electoral Intrusion with the recent interviews of Sleepy Joe Biden!”
Donald Trump Slams Lesley Stahl for Not Wearing a Mask
Prior to his announcement of potential leaking the interview footage, he shared a video of Lesley Stahl not wearing a mask inside the White House. He signed the tweet with a curious, “Much more to come,” leaving followers on edge for more information.
The New York Times reports that according to a source present at the taping, Stahl wore a mask up until the moment they began the interview. The source says the video shows Stahl speaking to two CBS producers, who both have on masks.
White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany also shared an image of Lesley Stahl and herself unmasked in the building. In the image, CBS correspondent Stahl is holding a large book of what is apparently the administration’s health care policies.
As Donald Trump left the White House, he was seen on video waving, but lacking a smile.
Users continue to wonder what occurred during the interview, what Trump’s melancholy expression may mean, and most of all: when the video will be released for everyone’s viewing pleasure.
