Governor Cuomo has made his feelings on Trump clear, after announcing the president “better have an army if he thinks he’s going to walk down the street in New York,” reports the New York Post. The New York governor went on to say President Trump’s order to review the funding of NYC, saying “It’s cheap, it’s political, it’s gratuitous, and it’s illegal.”
Following his seemingly threatening remark about Trump’s need for an army of protection, Cuomo clarified to reporters that he just meant the president is not eagerly welcomed into the city. “All I’m saying is that he is persona non grata in New York City,” Cuomo says, “New Yorkers will never forget how gratuitously mean he has been to New Yorkers.” He declares the president is highly disliked in his home town, claiming “He was dismissed as a clown in New York City, those who know him best, like him least.”
Cuomo goes so far as to say President Trump has tried to destroy the city countless times: “He has tried to kill the city that gave him his start,” Andrew Cuomo told reporters.
The New York governor did not stop his disdain for Trump there, though. Wednesday night, he took to Twitter to further denounce the president’s plan to slow New York City funding. He also added that Donald Trump played a role in Covid-19’s destruction of the city. “He let COVID ambush New York,” Cuomo claims.
Of course, social media immediately had words for Andrew Cuomo’s attack on President Trump. Some users agreed with his stance, while others were horrified with his aggression towards the president.
