Dr. Pepper announced over the week the launch of its new flavor: Fantastic Chocolate. According to the beverage brand, the new flavor offers a combination of the original Dr. Pepper flavor with chocolate that is an “extra sweet treat.”
In a press release, Dr. Pepper states that the new flavor is a “celebration of fandom” and helps introduce the beverage company’s new “Pepper Perks” rewards program. The “FANtastic Chocolate” is currently available through the program for a limited time only.
Dr. Pepper further states that in order for consumers to access the offer, they need to scan proof of purchase QR code on any of the beverage maker’s purchases where they’ll be prompted to create a “Pepper Perks” account. Once they earn the “qualifying amount” of points, consumers will be able to redeem their purchase to receive the new flavor.
The beverage company goes on to add that fans may also enter for a chance to win a trip to the College Football Playoff National Champion as well as redeem other branded gear through the program. The beverage maker also adds that the gear is designed to “enhance game day and cheer on our favorite college teams.”
Dr. Pepper currently has 23 flavors, which are in Regular, Diet, Zero Sugar, Caffeine Free, Cherry, and Cream Soda varieties. The company also considers itself the oldest major soft drink brand in the U.S.
Dr. Pepper Announces Partnership With Clemson Quarterback DJ Uiagalelei
Days before announcing the new FANtastic Chocolate flavor, Dr. Pepper announced its partnership with Clemson quarterback, DJ Uiagalelei. The company revealed that the football player will be featured in the brand’s upcoming “Fansville” college football marketing campaign.
The beverage brand revealed that the partnership with Uiagalelei is the first partnership with an active college athlete, thanks to the recent NCAA and state rulings that allow athletes to now participate in brand promotions, campaigns, and advertising. Dr. Pepper also claims that Uiagalelei is a front runner for the 2022 Heisman Trophy
Speaking about the new collaboration, Chief Marketing Officer for Dr. Pepper, Andrew Springate, stated that Uiagalelei is exactly what he thinks fans deserve this season. “He’s also the star of one of the most formidable college football teams in the NCAA,” Springate proclaimed. “[Clemson’s fans’] passion is the iconic embodiment of fandom and everything Dr Pepper ‘Fansville’ represents.”
Uiagalelei further revealed that it’s been a blast teaming up with Dr. Pepper for the campaign.
“Dr. Pepper and college football go hand-in-hand. And I can’t wait for people to see how we brought to life fan’s love of the sport and excitement for this season.”
Dr. Pepper goes on to add that Uiagalelei will be highlighted alongside other top NCAA athlete talent, which will be announced later this month.
