Elon Musk Says ‘Biggest Risks to Civilization’ Are Declining Birthrates

With Elon Musk having the highest net worth on the planet, it’s probably worth listening to what he has to say. When speaking at a meeting recently, he disclosed what he thought was the biggest threat to humanity. He’s worried about the declining birthrate.

When you think of humanity ending or being in trouble, not having enough kids probably isn’t the first thing that comes to mind. Nonetheless, while speaking at the Wall Street Journal’s annual CEO Council Monday, that’s the reason Elon Musk gave. “I think one of the biggest risks to civilization is the low birthrate and the rapidly declining birthrate,” he stated at the meeting.

Adding to his point, he said, “And yet, so many people, including smart people, think that there are too many people in the world and think that the population is growing out of control. It’s completely the opposite. Please look at the numbers — if people don’t have more children, civilization is going to crumble, mark my words.”

The remarks resulted from someone asking about how Musk’s Tesla Bot could help with labor issues. Then again, this isn’t the first time Musk voiced this opinion. In fact, earlier this year, he expressed the same view after an article came out saying the declining birthrate may be related to climate change.

The article discusses having children and the fact they contribute to CO2 emissions. Because of the massive amount of attention climate change has received lately, the Morgan Stanley article posits many couples are foregoing having children, at least for now.

Musk is a father of seven himself, so he’s practicing what he preaches regarding birth rates, at the very least.

Elon Musk is Making His Own Beer Called ‘Gigabier’

If you’ve been following Elon Musk, you may be aware of Tesla’s upcoming Cybertruck, an all-electric truck slated to begin production next year. A few months ago, he revealed his own Cybertruck-inspired beer called “GigaBier.” Promotional gimmick or revolutionary new beer? You be the judge.

While attending the Tesla Gigafactory Berlin County Fair, Musk spoke about Giga Berlin’s grounds. He also answered questions and provided information about the upcoming factory. Interestingly, at one point, he mentioned serving beer, according to Teslarati.

“We’re gonna build a train station that’s right on the property. And then we’re gonna have graffiti murals all throughout the factory, on the outside and everything. So I think that’s gonna be pretty cool. We’ve got some of them already. And we’re even gonna have a beer,” Musk proclaimed. As he did, an image appeared behind him showcasing the “GigaBier.”

Musk clearly drew inspiration from his futuristic vehicle, but here’s to hoping no one enjoys the two new offerings at the same time. The Cybertruck may be self-driving to some degree, but they won’t help you dodge a DUI.
