A stunning new extended teaser just dropped for 1883: A Yellowstone Origin Story. Let’s just say, we’re already hooked. With gorgeous narration and orchestral music alongside jaw-dropping footage, the show is already setting itself up to be a hit.

A spinoff of Yellowstone, 1883 follows an early generation of Duttons as they journey West. Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan is at the helm of 1883. Additionally, the prequel stars Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, Isabelle May, and Sam Elliott.

Faith Hill and Tim Mcgraw will play Margeret and James Dutton. Isabelle May will play their daughter, Elsa Dutton, seen a lot in the trailer. Sam Elliot, meanwhile, plays their seasoned guide.

In the trailer, the narrator, likely Elsa Dutton, talks about the aching yet triumphant journey west.

“I heard a thousand stories, but none could describe this place. It must be witnessed to be understood,” our narrator says.

“There were two journeys. One filled with danger and death and despair. The other adventure and wonder. I was on the latter and I loved it,” she says.

“The road west is filled with failures, but failure isn’t what drove him. It was a dream,” the narrator says, “and the dream is coming true.”

The ‘1883’ Teaser Shows off Some of the Goregous Locations

Additionally, the new teaser doesn’t shy away from showing us some of the absolutely beautiful settings. 1883 had an unparalleled budget and has welded that to its advantage. Meanwhile, show creator Taylor Sheridan really wants an authentic experience, and for that, they shoot on location.

The show built up 30 authentic wagon trains and even an 1800s town to use. Production created everything to add authenticity, and it really shows. Faith Hill has noted that they get so far out in the middle of nowhere, that actors quickly get new respect for Cowboys and how people lived.

“I think so many actors are drawn to Taylor’s writing because he is portraying the story in a way that was lived. I gained so much respect for cowboys,” she said.

Tim McGraw, meanwhile, loves all the hard work that’s gone into the project.

“It’s super dusty and super hot. There’s no way around it. At the same time, it’s like every kid’s fantasy to do something like this, to put your chaps on, your cowboy hat, and your gun holsters every day. Then you get on a horse and try to survive this journey,” he told Entertainment Weekly.

Sheridan, and the massive team worked hard to make the experience watching 1883 unlike any western that’s come before it. They’re really pushing the genre to the next level.

If you want to catch 1883 when it airs, go to Paramount + on December 19th. In the meantime, if you want to listen to our Yellowstone podcast, you can do so below.
