Ronen Rubinstein is known to 9-1-1: Lone Star fans as one half of the handsome couple known as “Tarlos.”

The 27-year-old Rubinstein plays T.K. Strand, a former firefighter turned paramedic who is trying to living his best life in Austin, Tx. T.K.’s boyfriend is Carlos Reyes, an officer with the Austin Police Department. And the writers of 9-1-1: Lone Star show all the affection between T.K. and Carlos (Rafael Silva). The show’s fans love them together.

Rubinstein says he isn’t bothered by the love scenes.

“It’s part of the job, man,” Rubinstein told the site DigitalSpy. “I always joke that it’s like I can almost expect it with any project that I do. For some reason, since I started, literally since my first movie, It Felt Like Love, I had a nudity scene. There was a love scene. I showed my butt. I was a 19-year-old kid. And it’s almost in every single project that I do. I guess I’m flattered.

“At the end of the day, it’s work,” Rubinstein said. “Hopefully, you work with somebody that’s professional across from you. So far in my career, I’ve been very lucky. You’re still doing work, and you’re still telling a story. Maybe if you work with somebody immature, it can be awkward. But for example, with Rafael (Silva), it’s been incredible. He’s such a pro, especially for it being his first project. He’s really embraced it, and has been a true professional.”

On 9-1-1: Lone Star, T.K. Is Son of Rob Lowe’s Capt Strand

Rubinstein’s character is the son of Captain Owen Strand (Rob Lowe). And his love life isn’t always so easy. The pilot of 9-1-1: Lone Star started with Owen having to save T.K. from a drug overdose. T.K. was going to propose to his boyfriend, only to find out his boyfriend was in love with another man. The Strands were living in New York. But Owen accepted a job to captain the 1-2-6, a unit that had been decimated by an explosion. The new job gave both of them a fresh start.

T.K. quickly met Carlos, who is from a conservative Texas family. His dad is with the Texas Rangers, the state’s version of the FBI. Carlos didn’t want to tell his family he was dating T.K.

Fox picked up 9-1-1: Lone Star for a third season. It’s a spinoff of 9-1-1. The shows are all about the lives of first responders, from the firemen to the cops to the paramedics and dispatchers.

Lowe added some star power to the Austin version of the show, which embraces inclusive storytelling.

Ryan Murphy created 9-1-1 and 9-1-1: Lone Star. He also is behind the American Horror and American Crime anthologies. He also created Nip/Tuck and Glee, two shows that didn’t necessarily follow a network formula.

Fox scheduled 9-1-1 for a fall premiere. Its first episode is Sept. 20. But fans of 9-1-1: Lone Star will have to wait a few more months. It doesn’t kick off until 2022. There is no date, as yet, for the premiere, so stay tuned.
