‘9-1-1’ Star Angela Bassett Throws on a Bikini and Basks in the Sun for 63rd Birthday Post

A toast to Angela Bassett, the 9-1-1 star, on her 63rd birthday. She spent it on the beach, wearing a bikini.

And she shared the snapshot with her 9-1-1 fans on Twitter and social media.

Bassett captioned the snap: “Hey Everybody, you good? Just out here being thankful for my many birthday greetings, blessings & an abundance of LOVE! “

Bassett definitely looks like she found the solution to perpetual youth. And another beautiful actress, who also is aging very well, posted her greetings to Bassett.

Halle Berry wrote: “happy birthday my leo sister! here’s to many more glorious rotations around the (sun).”

Plus, the 9-1-1 star also received greetings from Tiffany Haddish. The actress/comedian wrote: “Happy Birthday I can’t wait to work together! Well I can, but cause my manifest gun is slow, so I am working on getting it recalibrated. I love you #angelabassetBestactressalive.”

Bassett Has More Reasons to Celebrate 9-1-1

And Bassett has other reasons to celebrate. Deadline reported earlier this month that all series regulars on 9-1-1 received a pay bump. It’s the highest-rated scripted drama on Fox, so the network needs to keep the cast happy. Deadline said Bassett is the highest-paid cast member, earning more than $450,000 an episode. It places her among the highest-paid actors in Hollywood. And she’s believed to earn more than any other woman of color in network TV history.

But she’s worthy of such a historic high salary. Bassett received an Academy Award nomination for playing Tina Turner in the 1993 movie What’s Love Got to Do with It. She also has seven Emmy nominations.

Plus, Ryan Murphy created 9-1-1 specifically for Bassett. She also helped develop the show and is an executive producer for 9-1-1 and its spinoff 9-1-1: Lone Star. Bassett plays LAPD officer Athena Grant. She’s married to Peter Krause’s Bobby Nash, a fire captain of station 118.

Bassett’s Show is Top Scripted Series on Fox

According to TV Line, the fourth season of 9-1-1 averaged 6.5 million total viewers. It also drew a 1.05 rating among younger viewers. The only Fox show with her ratings in the reality competition series The Masked Singer.

In the season four finale, Bassett’s Athena solved a huge crime. She figured out that a sniper on the loose was a former SWAT team member. Plus, she and her husband decided to work to save their marriage.

We already know that the season premiere of 9-1-1 will be all about a power outage that impacts all of Los Angeles. The first episode is on Sept. 20. That’s a Monday night and the evening should be super competitive for viewers’ attention. NCIS switches to Monday and will premiere the same day. So will NCIS: Hawai’i, the new NCIS spinoff. Dancing with the Stars also premieres on Sept. 20. So will The Voice. And all the shows have to contend with Monday Night Football.

Show creators also are promising another crossover with Lone Star. But that won’t be until early 2022, when Lone Star kicks off its third season.

Stay tuned.
