Some are accusing Adele of cultural appropriation. The singer posted a picture of herself wearing Bantu knots, generally a traditional African hairstyle. She also wore a Jamaican flag bikini top, large gold jewelry, yellow feathers and black and white leggings.

She references the Notting Hill Carnival, an event that celebrates themes such as Caribbean culture and cultural diversity. The event is usually held in the streets of London but has went virtual this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
