‘Alaskan Bush People’ Alum Matt Brown Celebrates Birthday by Thanking Fans Amid Family Drama

Today, former Alaskan Bush People star Matt Brown turns 39, and he’s not letting anything stop him from celebrating his big day. The oldest of his crew, Brown seems to be the only one in his family that isn’t dealing with life-altering drama. Instead, he went out to town, bought himself a box of cake mix and plans to spend a quiet evening at home celebrating his birthday with his doting fans online.

Like always, the Alaskan Bush People alum recorded a video update for his Instagram. In the past, Brown has used his channel as a way to connect with his fans, explain aspects of his journey through recovery and just share positive messages. This latest clip was, of course, the latter. In fact, he seemed to be in particularly high spirits, now that he’s 39 years old.

“I’m having a really lovely day,” the Alaskan Bush People star said with a big grin on his face. “Thanks for all the birthday wishes and messages and everything.”

He shared his findings at the “Quick Stop” in town, including yellow cake mix, chocolate frosting and a candle. No longer especially close with his family, Brown showed his fans that he was more than happy to celebrate his birthday by himself and away from the Alaskan Bush People drama.

Former ‘Alaskan Bush People’ Star Stays in While Family Faces Charges

It’s not that Matt Brown doesn’t still love his siblings and mother. In fact, he’s even clarified in past videos that he still very much cares for his former co-stars of Alaskan Bush People. However, with how the events have unfolded following his father’s death in February, there still seems to be a bit of bad blood. Instead of partaking in the fighting and controversy, Brown decided to separate himself completely for the sake of his own wellbeing and mental health.

Since leaving the show several years ago, Brown admitted himself to a drug and alcohol rehabilitation clinic in California. There, he learned that some environments cause toxic reactions and habits, so he has to remove himself from the situation to prevent the temptation to use drugs. So, when he got into another rift with his family back in July, he cut all ties. Perhaps that means that he’ll get fewer birthday wishes and presents today, but it seems to be worth the sacrifice.

Meanwhile, the rest of the Alaskan Bush People are in a bit of a pickle, especially Brown’s mother Ami and brother Bear. In another financial lawsuit, Ami Brown faces charges from her late husband’s arrangements with an investor in the family’s business. On the romantic front, Bear Brown yet again breaks it off with his girlfriend and mother of his child, Raiven Adams. Though they’ve been on and off for a while, Adams reportedly told fans that this time, it’s for good.
