Bear Brown said the sudden loss of his father was a confusing and difficult time for him, but he thanks his supporters for helping him through it. The Alaskan Bush People star reached out recently to say he’s doing better.
Brown’s father, Billy Brown, died suddenly after suffering a seizure in early February. Bear and his father were extremely close. Over the past two months, he’s publicly mourned the passing of his dad on Instagram.
He posted late Thursday that he wanted to thank his supporters for helping his as he processed his grief.
“I would like to say thank you to all my friends that have stuck with my and supported me in this hard time! To my family and my coworkers! To the love of my life! And to all my fans! God bless y’all!,” he wrote. “I honestly don’t know what I’d do without y’all! Thank you Raiven, thank you Carly, thank you Nicole! Thank you!!!!”
Bear and his father were extremely close.
“He was our best friend — a wonderful and loving dad, granddad, and husband and he will be dearly missed. He lived his life on his terms, off the grid, and off the land, and taught us to live like that as well. We plan to honor his legacy going forward and to continue with his dream,” he wrote after his father’s death.
The future of the show is in flux. Bear had said they’ve already filmed season 13, but Discovery hasn’t said what will happen to the show after those episodes air.
Bear Brown Isn’t Leaving ‘Alaskan Bush People’
“Gotcha!!!!” Bear posted to Instagram on Friday. “That was an April fool’s joke in bad taste!!! My apologies! I’m definitely not leaving the show I plan on filming until I’m an old man!!! It’s been rough for sure! But the show is one thing in my life that is definitely good! I was gonna wait until tomorrow to say anything, but it got too much attention!!! Happy April fools day!!!”
Some fans sussed out the joke, but others were genuinely upset.
“I’ll miss you and hope you’ll return in the future. Thoughts and prayers continue for you,” one person wrote. “Oh no, well we’ll miss you but you decide what’s best in your life, sending all our blessings and prayers to you and your family,” someone else said.
When he finally revealed the ruse, fans were happy it had just been a joke.
