“Alaskan Bush People” showed the experiences of Billy Brown and Ami Brown as well as their children Matt, Bam Bam, Bear, Gabe, Noah, Bird, and Rain.

Bear Brown was the first to break the silence regarding his father’s death. Billy Brown passed away in early February after suffering from a seizure. Bear shared the news with his fans on Instagram. Bear wrote, “He was our best friend – a wonderful and loving dad, granddad and husband and he will be dearly missed.  He lived his life on his terms, off the grid and off the land and taught us to live like that as well.”

Now, the eldest son, Matt, is breaking his silence following the death of his father.

Matt Speaks on Instagram

Matt Brown used his Instagram account to speak about his father and the entire situation.

“Hi friends, In loving memory of my Dad Billy B Brown. Thank you all so much for your loving words of kindness and prayers they mean so much,” he wrote.

Matt also speaks to the camera for over three minutes. In some ways, the video feels scripted and a bit awkward. However, people flooded the comments to express their sorrow for his loss.

He took the opportunity to talk about how he had not always been on the greatest terms with his father. However, before he passed, he felt like they had been in a better position.

“Truth is, it hit me hard. I’m very lucky that before he passed, I knew that his health problems were getting worse and I had the hindsight to be able to reconcile with him and find closure before he passed … I feel good in my heart knowing I took that opportunity to do the right thing.”

Matt Brown Sexual Assault Allegations

Matt has had a number of controversies attached to him throughout his life and during “Alaskan Bush People.”

According to People, Matt Brown has been accused of raping two women in 2018. Discovery Channel had released a statement on the situation as well.

“Discovery Channel was approached several years ago regarding the allegations, finding them disturbing and very serious … We agreed the local authorities should be contacted immediately. Due to the nature of the accusations we felt that all cooperation would be most appropriately handled by law enforcement.”

In an interview with The Sun, the women came forward and identified themselves. They said Matt Brown raped them just days apart and that he had been heavily drinking as well. He has reportedly been suffering from addiction for several years. He went back to rehab in 2018 and was also in rehab in 2016.

Both women reported the alleged crimes to the police at the time, but Brown never responded to the allegations. The women were Jessica Jurges, a personal assistant to the Brown family, and Shelly Dawn, Matt’s manager.

Matt had left the show in 2016 for rehab. He reportedly has a rocky relationship with some of his family members.
