“Alaskan Bush People” star Matt Brown has been using his experience to help others. He recently posted a video on Instagram in which he gave his followers some advice on how to deal with grief.

Brown family patriarch, Billy Brown, passed away in February. Despite some discord among the “Alaskan Bush People” family, the loss was felt by all. And Matt, the oldest of the Brown children, has taken it especially hard. Matt finds now finds himself in a difficult position.

Fans will remember Matt’s departure from the show. As a result of his struggles with substance abuse, the “Alaskan Bush People” star left the TV world to seek treatment. It appears that the decision has been instrumental in helping his sobriety. But it has also created a rift between Matt and the rest of the Brown family.

Regardless of how the Browns may feel about each other, they are family. And the death of a family member can be a difficult thing to navigate. That’s especially true for a situation like Matt’s, where he finds himself somewhat isolated from his mom Ami and his siblings.

In the video, the “Alaskan Bush People” star recalled the experience of a friend who lost someone close to her recently.

“And I was trying to put myself there with her kind of in my head, you know? As like some kind of sort of support. And I guess I started missing my dad a little bit. Because I was thinking about her grief and loss, and that made me, like a selfish human being, start thinking about my own grief and loss,” Matt said in the video.

‘Alaskan Bush People’ Star Stresses Situational Nature of Grief

Attempting to tackle the topic of grief at the request of a fan, “Alaskan Bush People” star Matt Brown dropped some wisdom on his followers.

He said that because everyone is so unique, and the natures of their losses so different, that he could never pretend to relate to how exactly they’re feeling.

“That makes it really hard to relate to in a way that I think that I could do any good or help anyone with. Otherwise, all I can say is that for me, I always remember that the good times were the real times. And everything else was just some overpowering emotion that made sanity into craziness,” the “Alaskan Bush People” star continued.

Matt Brown finished his video in the most heartwarming way possible. He reassured himself that if his dad was there to see how he was handling his life in the wake of all his struggles, Billy Brown would be a very proud father indeed.
