Former Alaskan Bush People star Matt Brown took to social media on Saturday night to post a shocking rant about his family.
“Everyone has told me that other people’s secrets are not mine to tell,” Brown says in his latest video. “But they are destroying me, and they have been destroying me for a long time.”
“…I am cold, and I don’t have any money. And I hardly have anything to eat.”
Matt Brown is the oldest child of the late Alaskan Bush People patriarch Billy Brown. Overall, the famous family includes Billy Brown’s wife Ami, 58, and their seven children. In addition to the 37-year-old Matt, there is Bam Bam, 34, Bear, 31, Gabe, 29, Noah, 26, Bird, 24, and Rain, 16.
In a nearly eight-minute video posted to his Instagram account, Matt Brown slams his late father. Matt appears to have filmed the video late at night and in the woods. Among other accusations, Brown says that Billy Brown took all of the money that the family earned from Alaskan Bush People.
“We made a lot of money off of the show,” Brown says. “But because my dad controlled everything, all of the money went to him… I didn’t have any money or anything. My dad kept that all.”
Brown captioned the video, “The truth.”
Alaskan Bush People Star Details Show’s Beginning
In his eight-minute rant on Instagram, Matt brown also discussed what happened when producers initially pitched Alaskan Bush People. He says that the show was supposed to be based on Billy Brown’s book, which detailed how the family lived by candlelight.
And when production actually began on the show, Brown says that producers wanted the family to act as if they actually did live by candlelight. However, Matt admitted that wasn’t actually the case at all. They had modern amenities such as a generator, a television, and a box of movies.
Brown also goes into depth on his own personal issues in the video. He says that in addition to turning to alcohol, he even had an affair with a married woman.
He eventually went to rehab in an attempt to sober up. And that’s where he says he learned that the root of his problems stemmed from lying about his life on the show.
“I have kept secrets for other people at my own detriment and my own mental dismay,” Brown says. “…I loved filming the show, but I didn’t like lying about the way I live and the way things are in life.”
