The whole Alaskan Bush People family was present for Gabe Brown and Raquel’s wedding, including the family parrot.
Gabe Brown can only hope for love as big as the kind his mom and dad shared on Alaskan Bush People. After all, Ami Brown and her late husband Billy did uproot their lives to raise a family and live in almost complete isolation. Most couples are losing it after a few months of quarantining together. So if anyone can be a model of enduring love, it’s the Brown parents. Certainly, Gabe and Raquel got off to a great start with a cozy outdoor wedding ceremony. The entire Brown family was present, even the family’s newest addition – their pet parrot. During a clip from Alaskan Bush People, Gabe shares how he felt on the big day.
“To me, family is the biggest thing. It’s the most important thing in the world,” said Gabe. “And it just means that much more to me that they’re here on my wedding day.”
Gabe’s brother Solomon was the best man and presented his brother with the rings during the ceremony.
“It’s just a wonderful moment. This feeling is like everything I ever dreamed of,” said Gabe. “This day is going to go down in the history books as one of the best days of my life.”
Despite being a little nervous before the ceremony, Gabe was instantly at ease when he saw his bride.
“All of my nervousness and pre-wedding jitters just went away as soon as I saw Raquel walking down the aisle,” said Gabe. “It’s like I was walking through a storm on a dark night and all of a sudden I pulled into a nice safe harbor.”
The two exchanged vows and the officiant pronounced them husband and wife. To make things official the family sealed the ceremony by unleashing their wild sides and howling like wolves.
Gabe and Raquel of Alaskan Bush People Had Another Celebration Shortly After the Wedding
It was long after their wedding that the newlywed couple had something else to celebrate. In September of last year, Gabe and Raquel welcomed their first daughter Sophie into the Alaskan Bush People family.
During an episode of the show where the couple brings Sophie to visit the rest of the Brown family, Gabe talked about what it’s like to be a new dad.
“Being a dad is great, you know taking care of little ones. I feel like I was kind of geared for it,” said Gabe. It’s definitely different though when you’re the dad. Like, you’re the guy… the buck stops there.”
Gabe and Raquel want to make sure that little Sophie stays connected to her family’s roots. So, they didn’t wait long before bringing her up to the mountains to visit the family.
“Life on the mountain’s pretty rough,” said Gabe. “But that’s the way all of my brothers and sisters grew up. I don’t want her to be a city baby. I want her to be a bush baby.”
