‘Alaskan Bush People’ Stars Face Backlash for Reportedly Living in $2.7 Million Mansion

The stars of the hit Discovery show, Alaskan Bush People, are facing backlash after reportedly living in a massive $2.7 million mansion.

That’s quite the upgrade from their Browntown homestead in the Alaskan wilderness.

The Discovery show follows the life of the Brown family, who were supposedly living off the grid in Alaska. IMDb describes Alaskan Bush People as “a journey deep into Alaska’s bush, where naturalist and adventurer Billy Brown, along with his wife, Ami, and their seven children, chooses to live life on his own terms, connected to wild nature and bonded to each other.”

Well, this may not be totally correct. Pop Culture reports that in the wake of the family patriarch Billy Brown’s death, the family packed their bags and moved into something more… modern and comfortable.

While the Alaskan Bush People mother, Ami Brown, underwent cancer treatment in California in 2017, the Brown family reportedly lived in a $2.7 million mansion in Beverly Hills.

Since 2018, the family has lived on the spacious 435-acre property in the North Cascade Mountains in Washington, conveniently located near the Discovery show’s filming locations. According to an interview with People, Ami Brown noted that her cancer treatments were the reason for both moves.

Alaskan Bush People Paychecks

It’s been previously reported on how much each Brown family member made per episode of Alaskan Bush People.

With seven mouths to feed and 12 seasons of filming the hit show, you would think the family was doing pretty well for themselves. You would be correct.

According to Screen Rant, the Alaskan Bush People have a net worth of around $60 million. In addition, the Brown family received a check from each episode and has money coming in from other outside sources.

Each family member gets a different cut of the earring, however. Billy Brown, the family patriarch, was racking in nearly $500,000 for each episode prior to his sudden death. It is reported that the rest of the family dwindled in comparison to Billy, with a mere $40,000 to $60,000.

Furthermore, Discovery cut the oldest son on Alaskan Bush People, Matt, from the show along with his paycheck.

Ami Brown, however, listed Billy Brown’s total assets as $439,000, with $415,000 of that in real property.

Many fans were furious with the news, calling the show a lie.

“Alaska Bullsh-t People. What a farce,” wrote a previous fan, while another said, “Typical… Alaskan Bush People is a crock of shit….”

Discovery has not yet commented on the future of the show. However, Pop Culture reports that the Browns have already filmed the next season of the show.

Bear Brown confirmed this on Instagram, where he wrote, “Be sure to check out the new season of Alaskan Bush People, and all your questions will be answered!!!!” The new season features Bear getting married as well.”
