Before departing this life, long-time Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek left game show watchers with a treasure trove of memories. Trebek also made an impact on many lives away from his game show hosting duties.

Alex Trebek passed away late last year after a lengthy battle with pancreatic cancer. He died on November 8 at the age of 80. As people who know him would expect, he kept going strong all the way to the end of his life. He recorded the final episodes as host of the hit quiz show Jeopardy! just days before his passing. His final episode as host aired earlier this year and is one of the most-watched episodes in the show’s history.

Looking to carry on her father’s legacy, Alex Trebek’s daughter, Nicky Trebek, has stepped to the forefront of the battle against cancer. Nicky is attempting to raise money and awareness specifically for pancreatic cancer causes. She took to social media yesterday (Wednesday) to announce she will have a team participating in a pancreatic cancer fundraiser.

“Among the great memories I have of my dad (Alex Trebek) once he was diagnosed was going to Purple Pride LA in 2019,” she says. “Seeing all the people impacted by pancreatic cancer and hearing their stories was so important. It’s vital to raise awareness. That’s why I created my own Team Nicky Trebek for purple pride 2021!”

Nicky goes on to explain why she created her team and explains how others can participate.

“It’s a virtual event this year, so you can participate however you want from wherever you are,” she says. Trebek also includes a link where donations can be made.

As a game show host, Alex Trebek’s accomplishments are many and his shoes will never be truly filled. The show is forging on in his honor with various celebrities filling for the late Jeopardy! host. Trebek held the post for 37 years before his death. He won seven Emmy Awards for Outstanding Game Show Host. His latest Emmy win came just last year. In a testament to his international popularity, he has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the Canadian Walk of Fame.
