When it comes to sifting through antiques, “American Pickers” star Frank Fritz knows what to look for. Because he’s been collecting junk since he was a small kid, he knows what items are valuable and how to spot them.

Pickers everywhere look to the famous Fritz since the “American Pickers” show reached the level of notoriety it did. ‘Upcycling’ old antiques or rehabilitating vintage items bolstered small towns and antique stores across the country.

Like his co-star Mike Wolfe, Fritz found a knack for collecting what others would consider junk early on. The star said he collected everything from bottles, stamps and coins. The hobby turned into what is now ‘American Pickers”, though Fritz recently departed the show amid behind-the-scenes drama.

However, the famed junker took a special liking to motorcycles. While he owns several of them, the prolific picker said he loves to restore them to their original form – and even help others find them.

“To see people love that style or that brand…that’s what it’s really all about,” Fritz said in the 2013 interview.

The picker said he would search trade magazines and antique shows in order to find the perfect bike to restore to its mint condition. Fritz also stressed that he never wants to over-construct an item. Rather, he said he strives to restore the bikes to their original presentation.

What Happens After “American Pickers” for Fritz?

In light of the recent drama which left Frank Fritz booted from the show, the antique lover said he may still opt to join another show if the right pitch came up.

“I could go either way and find a new show, have something new and have just as much fun. That’s what it’s all about, being satisfied with yourself and having a little bit of fun,” Fritz said. “I’m in the position now where if there was a show or something, they could pick me up.”

“I was talking to one of the guy’s on the show and he was saying it would be a total loss if I don’t keep going or get something rolling. He was saying ‘You’re such a talented person, you need to do a lot of different things,’” Fritz said.

With fan support behind him, Fritz’s future is sure to be successful, no matter what avenue he chooses.

Though tensions have been noticeable between the former dynamic duo and co-stars, Mike Wolfe said he supports Fritz and whatever he chooses to do in recent statements.
